LifeRing Secular Recovery is all about choice in recovery. We don't believe there is only one way to recover or that if you don't recover our way, then your recovery isn't valid or real. On the contrary! We believe there are multiple paths of recovery, that some of them work better than others for different individuals, that we can choose a personal recovery plan that works best for us, and then support one another as we do so with the goal of becoming and remaining abstinent from alcohol and other non-medically indicated drugs.
Sound good? We think so - it works for us! We've grown a lot since our founding in 2001, but there are still a lot of people who don't know we exist, and we want that to change.
In order to do that, we need your help to fund our outreach programs.
We'd like to begin making our $50 Meeting Starter kit available free to our new meeting convenors in addition to making ongoing support available to them when they need it, including the donation of further materials and help with expansion.
We would be able to help create more meetings where they're wanted and needed, like the one Mykel Hall started at Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas, California.
That's just one goal. We'd also like to begin representing ourselves at any/every major recovery-related conference we can get to so as to introduce ourselves, and make contacts and connections within the wider recovery community on a regular basis.
We know this works! For example, we've been able to start a LifeRing meeting on In the Rooms, a very popular online recovery meeting website thanks to the connection a LiferRing Board of Directors member was able to make with a couple of their reps at a recovery conference. The meeting is very successful, and people are thrilled to have it!
The more of those kinds of connections we can make and the more support we can give to our convenors and members out there, the better!
And you can help! We deeply appreciate any donation you can make to help make a major difference in the lives of people who need us, and we thank you for your support!
I donated in support of this campaign.
